Pearl of Wisdom for the day
Resolutions
Jake Gyllenhaal Double Feature - Donnie Darko / Prince Of Persia
IMDB | IMDB |
Disney's Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time is an action movie, with a hint of the free running (evolved platforming) from the video game. The "twist", "romantic" subplot, and OMG SACRIFICE moment were predictable (and resolved with barely a whimper). Also, Jake puts on an annoying accent. There are worse movies to watch. Certainly for a "Video game movie" it does well. Humour doesn't quite match other movies in the genre like "The Mummy".
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ✩ ✩
Verdict: T'was OK.
Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut is a movie about mental illness. I'm not particularity fond of those. It's set in the 80's. Negative on partiality to that particular era. About a teenage boy/arson. Ding ding ding. Trifecta. Parascience. Oh Dear.
Okay. It's no "list of things that James likes stuffed into a movie" but that's to be expected, it covers some vaguely difficult ground, obviously with some insight from the writer/director (which IIRC were the same person).
I'm not going to watch the movie again to try and ascertain the message.
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ✩
Verdict: T'was OK. Artsy/Indie (styled) movies gets an extra star to impress girls. Will probably end up as a English text at some point.
Bonus Review: Skyline
"Who are you people and what have you done with the rest of the movie?"
In some ways you just want it to hurry up and kill off all these unlike-able characters (they even pull the pregnant card!) other times you want it to slow down and do some exposition about the antagonist. Then the movie ends and you start to think what a strange opening cinematic this game has, I hope the gameplay is good.
I guess what I'm saying is that this movie has some interesting ideas (alien super power brain transplant invasion!!), suffers from the same lack of scale as war of the "worlds" and failure to establish tension as Paranormal Activity.
Rating: ★ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Verdict: Quite Bad. Better than Pandorum.
Movie Review - Pandorum (2009)

Plot is non-existent.
Rating: ★ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩
Verdict: Watch-able, depending on your *cough* state of mind. I didn't like it. (derr)

The house before this one...
Immediately prior to moving out to woop woop, the house I lived in had a walk in linen closet. Full of towels, sheets, lightbulbs and security system we never touched by had alarmingly blinky lights. Quite a few times I remember wandering in there to enjoy a little moment of peaceful silence in a small, dark, linen-y room.
I miss that sometimes.

I went to a wedding and all I got was a picture of some candles - Day 21
The bride was pretty, etc. but mostly it was just a bunch of people I don't know dancing to songs from the 80's.
Incidentally, I think I need a new camera.

Also I'm a chronic
I think I should start a tech blog, somewhere outside the Blogger eco
Dream
At one point Keanu Reeves broke in through a skylight, forcing an evacuation of the room, and many rolled eyes.
Anyway, that's the best I can remember it,
Peace

Cascade, Grill'd, Expendables- Day 12
But first, a complaint. This drink:
Is terrible! it tastes nothing like the stuff you buy from the supermarket and mix yourself. I do like that their carbonated apple juice product is available however.
Now that that's out of the way, I had a "Front Bar" (IIRC) which is a "Steak Sandwich". It was very delicous (see below), but impossible to eat.. gracefully. Back to a "bar bar" next time me thinks.
What I actually saw was The Expendables, which, as I predicted 10 minutes in, climaxes... you guessed it, 10 minutes in. (I'm not going to spoil the best moment in the whole movie, even if the trailer almost did)
I really should've written about Knight and Day, Inception, or Toy Story 3 when I saw them. They were all good. I'm not just a complainer. Honest. =D

Nawww.. filler post - Day 11
Addendum: Really must hack the camera app not to stop music playback. It ruins my spontaneity having to choose.

This is the best possible angle of Paolo. |

Also today: Centurion, which is not really worth mentioning except to say that human heads are apparently easier to cut off than I had imagined, and that the UK seems to have run out of actors, as I keep recognising them from their other roles.

There are Birds - Day 4
I'm amusing 'Maddy' is female. |
Afterwards I went to a supermarket that had it's own flock of internal birds.
If there were birds here the title would make sense. |

Achievement is Not a Zero Sum Day - Day 3
Concrete has started falling from the sky and little fluro workers are running around directing it.
No amount of editing can make this cheery. I tried. |
I actually missed all my scheduled doohicky's today. The library was very full too.
Starcraft II is a very useful learning related tool. |

Back Into It - Day 2
pictured: Joy |
After a quick headcount, I had discovered that there were about 25 people in with Thau. At least 1/3rd were wearing earbuds, intently staring at their laptops.
I have not had a single oral conversation longer than two stanzas today.

Day 9 (Part 2) - My Mother
Took what I think is an interesting photo.
Looked at a shed over a pool.
And had an over-edited meal.

Day 7 – A Morning Out
(no, I didn’t put a pun in the title this time,
What do you think I am, a punist or something? No pun intended of course)
So we went to see Iron Man 2, Ken (above) showed up too.
These other people were so forthcoming as to appear immediately after the film was over. One of whom accepts shifts whilly nilly, and another who accommodates said frivolous commitments. Ben is in there too somewhere. The film shall not be discussed.
Skipping over (and in line with) some typical teen indecision (and evacuation) I used identification to enter a 18+ venue for the first time. It was boring so we left.
We then went to a non-18+ cafe to order alcohol and something called “Tapas” because Gumji was hungry.
I purchased a lemon lime and bitters, a slightly fancy sounding drink with only the pretence of alcoholism.
This is some form of caffeinated beverage with two $7 dollar shots of baileys in it. Background: Tapas.
Harry, who journeyed all the way from Geelong just for the occasion, has a beleaguered N-ninty-something that fell to pieces to twart his plan to dunk it into his coffee.
I then tried to lock DK outside, but, like a wounded puppy, he just wouldn’t die. DK volunteered to test this automatic door’s night time locking credentials. It failed.
Nathan then bought a cheeseburger, suitably impressed by the Tapas.
Quite some time later, the herd having streamlined its’ self down to just myself and Harry, a place for me to sleep appeared as if by magic and with no effort at all by the host.
The cat left me alone, actually.
Sneak preview of my Mother's day post. Which is technically the same day.
